Maurice Mandalinic – Junior Activities Chair
As a Nipper Parent for over ten years, I have been supporting kids through the Nipper Program, undertaking a number of different roles. The satisfaction has been immense, watching these kids develop and become lifesavers on patrol. I have stepped up into the JAC Chair role, not only to help support this program, but also move the Club forward.
Jade Needham – Director Member Services
Inspired and encouraged by Freshie’s first female president, Shanny Dyer, Jade jumped into the Director Member Services role for the 2026-2027 season. Jade enjoys challenging herself and learning new skills, last year focusing on the sport side of surf lifesaving by training for and competing in the Coolangatta Gold Sprint. This year she’d like to learn more about what happens behind the scenes to make Freshie the incredible institution it is, and where better to do that than from the executive table? Michiel Tops – Director Education
Michiel first became involved with Freshwater SLSC through his children when they joined the Nippers program. His children have since progressed through the club, with some now active patrolling members and the youngest still enjoying Nippers. After completing his Bronze Medallion, he joined Patrol 11, where he now serves as Patrol Captain. Keen to contribute beyond patrols, Michiel became a Trainer with the Education team, helping new members develop the skills and confidence to become lifesavers. This season, he has stepped into the role of Chief Instructor | Director of Education, where he’s focused on strengthening the club’s training programs, supporting members as they progress through their surf lifesaving journey, and developing the next generation of lifesavers.
