December Edition – Message from the President

December Edition – Message from the President

As the working year winds down, the action at Freshie is just heating up! Our beach has been buzzing with activity, and it’s been incredible to see our community come together in such vibrant ways.

From the Freshie Boat Carnival to the Masters Carnival and the massive Bennett Board Nipper Carnival, the sand has been alive with competition, camaraderie, and club spirit. And that’s just what happened on our home turf!  And a big shout out to the   teams providing support to enable these carnivals to happen.

We’ll dive into the highlights of these events throughout the newsletter, but I wanted to take a moment to say: what a season it’s been already.

A huge congratulations to the Balmoral nippers and our own crew who recently achieved their Surf Rescue Certificates (SRCs) — a milestone that marks the beginning of their lifesaving journey. And to the dedicated trainers who guided them every step of the way: thank you for your time, passion, and mentorship.

We also welcomed a new batch of Balmoral SRCs to Freshwater last weekend — it’s wonderful to see the next generation of lifesavers growing and connecting across clubs.

We have our Club General Meeting on Sunday 7 December at 4pm in the Heritage room.  Come along to hear about the workings of the club and enjoy light refreshments afterwards.

As this is our final newsletter for the calendar year, I warmly invite all members and their families to join us for the Freshwater SLSC Twilight Nippers and Christmas Celebration on Sunday 14 December. It’s a chance to relax, reconnect, and celebrate everything we’ve achieved together.

So here’s to a well-earned break, more leisurely beach days, and a summer filled with sunshine, surf, and community spirit.
