Richard Hawtin – Life Member

At the clubs AGM 2026, Richard Hawtin was unanimously elected as the 66th Life Member of Freshwater SLSC in recognition of 25 years of exceptional, distinguished service to the club and community. Beginning as a Nipper Age Manager in 2000/01, Richard went on to contribute across almost every facet of club life — from youth development and surf sports officiating to governance, major event leadership and frontline lifesaving. He has patrolled more than 928 hours, served 14 seasons as an Age Manager, strengthened Nipper financial management as Treasurer, and led the Bennett Fast & Furious Carnival as Announcer and Referee. For the past decade, Richard has been the Organiser of the Freshwater Open Carnival and the club’s key liaison for State Championships. As Executive Officer, Governance Panel member and Club Licensee, he has carried significant administrative and legal responsibilities with professionalism and calm. Widely respected for his humility, reliability and willingness to take on the toughest jobs, Richard’s sustained contribution has shaped the strength, safety and reputation of Freshwater SLSC — making him truly deserving of Life Membership.
