Function Rooms
Located on Freshwater Beach, the Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club provides a relaxed and casual atmosphere for your special event. Established in 1908, our rich history is reflected in our Club rooms, which are now available for your wedding, engagement, birthday, Christmas party or other special event.
Please note that we cannot accommodate 18th or 21st birthday celebrations.
We recommend a select group of local preferred caterers and our hire fees reflect a discount if you choose one of these. They offer a wide range of menu options catering to all budgets and can design a menu for your special event. Alternatively you may choose to use your own caterer. You may NOT ‘self-cater’.
At Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club we allow you to supply your own beverages (a considerable saving can be made by doing this) but, you must cover the cost of our approved and qualified RSA bar staff to serve your beverages.
All proceeds from function room hire go straight back into the club to assist with the on-going purchase of vital life saving equipment as well as training new patrolling lifesavers and keeping our current patrol members up-to-date with the latest lifesaving techniques.
With the combination of the location of Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club and our preferred caterers as event managers, your special event is sure to be memorable.
We offer 4 function rooms, from a large group party to an intimate dinner, the choice is yours.
Best for: prestige, dancing
Guests: 100 seated, 150 standing
The beachfront Freshwater Room boasts a private veranda, looking over beautiful Freshwater Beach which is perfect for catching the sea breeze.
The room is suitable for weddings, engagement parties and corporate events. The timber floors are perfect for dancing the night away. The Freshwater Room holds approximately 150 for a cocktail-style function and up to 100 guests for a sit down event.
Best for: corporate, school functions
Guests: 200 seated, 250 standing
Our larger Kooloora Room is at the rear of the club and caters for approximately 250 for a cocktail function and up to 200 guests for a sit down event depending on stage/dance floor configuration. A good room for school groups and large corporate functions.
Best for: intimate events
Guests: 50
The Heritage Room is a smaller function area which opens out onto a grassed area overlooking the beach. Perfect for pre-dinner drinks before moving into the larger Freshwater Room or it can be used as a standalone function area.
The room can hold up to 50 guests for a cocktail style function and looks out over the beach and a grassed area. With internet access and a large flat screen, wall mounted TV [with USB and RGB inputs] The Heritage Room is also perfect for small meetings and ’off sites’. Tables and dining chairs are also provided for your set up. One of our preferred caterers would be happy to quote on a food and beverage package to suit your requirements.
Best for: corporate meetings
Guests: 16 seated comfortably around table with extra seating available in the room.
This fully air conditioned dedicated meeting room is located on the upper-corner of the mezzanine level of the club with expansive views of Freshwater Beach and is ready for your next meeting.
The Ocean View Room has all of your meeting requirements in mind: furnished with a large boardroom style table and is equipped with internet access, projector screen and whiteboard. Just bring your laptop and projector and your meeting is complete. We also recommend an alternate lunch or dinner venue – the Harbord Hotel or the Harbord Diggers.
All our preferred caterers offer a variety of menus - from party platters and BBQ's to formal dinners to suit your preferred style of function and budget. Please contact them direct to quote on your function

The facility is NOT available for 21yrs or under birthday parties or school formals. Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club reserves the right to refuse any booking.
